Yes, you can always bring your Terry Brooks books from home for Terry to sign. But do try to buy at least one book from the bookstore putting on the event. Putting on signing events does cost money and the only way to keep events happening is to keep the bookstores open!
This is largely dependent upon the size of the event. If it is a large event, the bookstore or convention may limit the amount of books signed from 3 to 5 at a time before you have to go back to the end of the line. But at smaller events, all books can be signed. We just ask that people with more than 10 books wait until the end of the event as a nicety to other people who are attending. Yes, looking at you who bring suitcases of books!
For hardcovers, take the dust jacket and "flap" it to the title page of the book. When Terry takes the book, it is then really easy for him to open to the page that he will sign. For paperback books, it is best put a post-it note on the title page sticking out of the book. Again, that helps Terry get to the page to sign quickly.
If it is only a few books, yes, Terry will personalize the books with your name or someone else's name. That said, if there are more than a few books, Terry may personalize only a few and then flat-sign the rest to keep the line moving and make as many readers happy as he can.
